Date of Surgery: 8/1/2016
Hip
Update (2/2018): Lonnie has returned to instructing full-time.
About Lonnie
I live in Eagle, Colorado and have taught skiing for 30 years for Vail Resorts. I am also a trainer for Vail Resorts. I am originally from Minnesota, so I have always loved the snow and skiing. Both my parents were teachers so it was a natural progression for me to teach skiing.
Career Background
I have always had a huge passion for skiing and am a long time skier. I am Level III Nordic and Alpine instructor, have been on the Vail Demo Team, and am one of the top resort trainers.
Treatment Procedure and Recovery Plan
I had both hips replaced last summer with a recovery of 3 months for each hip. After the second surgery, I was in dire need of PT and was able to get myself back on the slopes for the 2016-17 ski season.
Testimonial
"With the help from the Kees Brenninkmeyer Foundation for my 2nd hip replacement surgery, it eliminated the financial strain on the family as I could focus on becoming healthy again. I was able to return to the ski slopes that fall with complete mobility for skiing with my new hips. I cannot thank the Kees Brenninkmeyer Foundation enough for helping me get out pain from my day to day work of teaching and training others to become better skiers. "
