Update (12/2017): Zahan has returned to guiding.
About Zahan
I’m a Jackson, Wyoming based mountain guide. I started climbing and skiing in the alps, and moved to Jackson to pursue my dream of becoming a full-time mountain guide.
Career Background
When I was 18, I went out with a famous French mountain guide – Christophe Profit. After I always wanted to attain that level of proficiency in the mountains. I love skiing and climbing, but independent of that, I love connecting people with the wild places and sharing experiences in the mountains with people who might not be able to experience that by themselves.
Treatment Procedure and Recovery Plan
I had a clean up scope on my left wrist that enabled me to return to work and be able to load my wrist in ways I wasn’t able to prior to the surgery. Recovery was about 3 – 5 months. Unfortunately due to the nature of my injury, I will require additional surgeries in the future, but for now I am back to working full-time and will continue guiding thanks to my surgery.
Testimonial
"My connection to the Kees Brenninkmeyer Foundation came at a critical time when I had run out of options. Local doctors favored a more aggressive approach which might have set me back further. The Steadman Clinic surgeon's expertise and experience was essential in coming up with a solution that would allow me to continue my career and pursuing my passion in the mountains. Without the Kees Brenninkmeyer Foundation, none of that would have been possible. The staff worked hard with very little time to process my application and took care of all the details. I am so grateful for the opportunity they gave me."
